FSO Siumbatu : Hydro-Oceanographic Survey Activities

FSO SIUMBATU : HYDRO-OCEANOGRAPHIC SURVEY ACTIVITIES
Morowali, 12 September 2024
PT AAKP ANEKA USAHA RAYA - A Hydro-Oceanographic Survey is an activity of collecting marine data to support decision-makers in determining the suitability of a location for building or establishing business activities. A Hydro-Oceanographic Survey consists of bathymetry data, current and wind speed, and marine ecosystems. We conducted a Hydro-Oceanographic Survey on 12 - 19 September 2024, to be used as a basis for policy-making regarding the placement of Floating Storage Offloading (FSO) in the waters around the coast of Siumbatu Village, Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi Province.
The Siumbatu FSO was initiated by PT Wijaya Nusantara Energi to strengthen the supply of industrial diesel fuel in Morowali Regency. Therefore, hydro-oceanographic data was needed to determine the feasibility of placing the FSO in the waters around Siumbatu Village. We, as a marine survey service provider, were entrusted with carrying out the survey to meet the data requirements. Equipped with reliable equipment and expert personnel, we were able to complete the survey.
In the survey, we also involved the local community of Siumbatu Village, assisted by the government and village officials to support our activities. This was demonstrated by a public discussion held on September 14, 2024, at the Siumbatu Village Office to gather local residents' opinions and suggestions regarding the survey and future FSO activities. The conclusions we reached in the public discussion were recorded and will be accommodated by PT Wijaya Nusantara Energi according to its intended purpose.
